Arrowfest
I went to Arrowfest today in Santa Clara, very cool, I came back with a bag of free stuff! I went with some of the guys from work. One guy, he knew everyone there, we couldn’t walk around for more than a few minutes before someone recognized him.
No commentsworking late
I was in the office today until about midnight, originally the plan was to be done at 5pm, but there was so much to do I figured I’ll just work through it and get it done. I’m happy to say the phone system is all setup and programmed. Phone systems suck, I liked the last VoIP system I used, but these old PBX things are a PITA to program, maybe back in the late 90’s they were cool, but I never want to do this again.
Anyways, I wanted to get back to catching up with what’s been going on…. The weekend after labor day weekend the usual fishing gang got together and went skiffing in Santa Cruz. It was so much fun, I’ve been talking about getting a boat, or at least a kayak, and this pretty much just sealed the deal. Even if I don’t go fishing on it, I think the feeling of being out there on the open water is awesome.
So that brings me to last week, it was my brother Kennys birthday, we all went out to Korea House, my parents really liked that. Just this past weekend my parents had their annual karaoke party. And Sunday I went to a wedding, I guess I’ll share more about that later.
No commentsmoving offices
One of my top priorities was to move my new company from one office in Santa Clara to Mountain View, it’s only about 6 miles away, but moving an office is never easy. Even though I think I had plenty of time to do everything (the execs were pretty easy to work with) I still find myself rushing days before the move.
No commentsBusier than normal…
I really like my new job, but man it sure is demanding. Sometimes I feel bad because there just are not enough hours in the day to finish everything I’ve got on my plate. I’m in this weird limbo position, part of my job is IT, part is SA, and part is OM… anyways, work is still alot of fun, I really like the people I work with.
So I’m sure there’s all those people that have been visiting my site for the past 3 weeks waiting for the next update, I’ll summarize whats been going on.
I finally got around to taking a photo from the office, we’re moving into our own building next week, so I’m about to say goodbye to this view. On the 3rd Jen invited a bunch of us over for dinner, she cooked and although I’ve heard alot of stories about her cooking, the food wasn’t bad, it was different than what I cook, so I wouldn’t normally eat it, but it’s good to have some variety.
Labor day weekend was busy, my company was supposed to have the friday before Labor day off, but with the tight deadlines, the CEO asked people to stay and work.
I didn’t make any plans for that day so I just went to work, I figure getting that day off was a bonus already. On Sunday the 4th, I went to Kelley Park in San Jose for a BBQ setup by Leeyas brother. It was a last minute thing but there were alot of people and they got a nice area, right across from the back entrance of the Japanese Friendship Garden.
I also did quite a bit of shopping at REI and Any Mountain, I got a new backpack, passport holder, shoes, basically stuff for my upcoming vacation. At the park we ate, played with the babies and walked around taking pictures, parking is expensive, but the Koi ponds are a big hit there.
Monday I spent all day cooking, I made a prime rib, my now semi-famous crab bisque, and some filets. Originally I wasn’t planning on making the crab bisque, but dungies were on sale at the market, I got 3 big ones and man it really packed the bisque with alot of crab meat. I love dungeness crab.
It was alot of food, but I gave some away and I still ate leftovers for the next 2 days. Leeya made her flan for dessert too. I was impressed because we cooked everything (from scratch) and didn’t really order anything. Good old home cooking is the best. The reason for the bbq cookout was because it was Nelson’s birthday! A bunch of us chipped in for his gift, in case some people didn’t know, we all got him an HDTV antenna. He was basically using rabbit-ears all this time.
It’s time to go catchup on the new NBC TV season, I’ll catchup again.
No commentsfunny story
I went to a wedding yesterday, I brought my camera and since I wasn’t sure if I’d be allowed to take pictures, I left all but my cheapest lens in the car.
So when I went inside, there were a million cameras, at least 6 other DSLR’s! After the ceremony I went back to the car and brought out all my gear… now here’s the funny part, I lent my camera to my hot date, she was using it with the big lens… there’s this guy with the prosumer canon dslr and a cheap EF-S lens. He keeps hovering over my hot date looking at her and taking pictures of her, eventually he starts to talk to her… what did he want to talk about? The camera! My date kindly tells him she knows nothing about the camera and he starts to hover all around me and pretty much ignores my hot date. Boys and their toys ![]()
