Texas in 36 hours?
I remember talking to my co-worker john about how long I should spend in texas, his response, “I’d take whatever flight has the shortest time in texas.” I laughed at him and booked almost the longest weekend I possilbe. But oh was he right.
So the weekend began at 8:25pm friday. I was on the plane just in the nick of time, too bad the plane didn’t leave until almost 10pm. It cut my hour plus layover down to 10 minutes, sadly this was the probably the one part of my trip I was looking forward to, the hour layover in Vegas, and like that it was gone.
The plane arrived in DFW early and Mike picked me up on time, sure it was hot, but I thought I could handle it. How little I know about the heat!
The wedding was great, and the afterparty was nice, I think I expected more though. I guess I’ve been blessed by some pretty amazing weddings this year.
Now here I am, how did I get here? After the afterparty I took 2 hours to go back to the hotel, shower, and pack, 6am standby flight here I come. A total of 26.5 hours in texas. I’m currently in Phoenix now for a 45 minute layover. Soon I’ll be back home around 9am.

So I’m here in Dallas, and yes it’s almost 5am here. The flight wasn’t so bad, I did some reading for work and watch a movie. It’s hot here… when I landed it was almost 90 degrees… at 3:30am!
Anyways, the room is nice, I almost can’t wait to start the day tomorrow. I am a bit bummed to be missing my 10 year high school reunion, I might have actually gone. I think my life would stack up nicely compared to other people from Leland High class of 1995. Anyways, tomorrow is Katherine’s wedding. I’m pretty excited for her, at one point in my life, I considered her one of my best friends, ever since she’s made a home for herself out here in texas things have changed. It’s normal, we all have our own things to go do.

I’ve been lagging on posting up some recent pictures and I’ve been meaning to order some prints too! From Foster City fishing, a 24″ Striped Bass.
busy work
Normally I don’t talk much about work, but… this isn’t really anything about my workplace. It’s funny, I worked two 11 hour days last week since there is so much to do and only one of me. The great part is that I feel fine, I even went into the office Saturday for a few hours. I tell you driving 100 miles a day takes alot out of you, even though it’s mindless, it just zaps the life out of you.
So yea, I’m really digging this 1 mile commute, I havn’t had a chance to bike yet, but I have been carpooling and having lunch with everyone that works closeby…

Today as I sat in my new cube, I realized for the first time in a long time, that I was happy. Happiness for me was looking out my 7th floor window to see trees, a view of the valley, and roller coasters, all while drinking a free odwalla carrot, orange, apple juice.

2 commentslast weekday walk in downtown oakland
I took a stroll around downtown oakland today during lunch, went to the bank, the dim sum place, the vietnamese sandwitch place… I’m going to miss working so close to a nice downtown area.

This past weekend a bunch of my friends went camping/biking/fishing in the Lake Tahoe area. I pretty much raced there after work around 4pm and got there around 8:30pm, others left earlier and setup camp, while some others got there even later. I had a really good time, we were close to the water so we did some fishing from shore and from raft, the biking was nice, a short climb and then a whole lot of downhill. I had a really hard time sleeping, but we had alot of food and the company was great. Here’s a handful of pictures I took.

It’s the number of bug bites I have on my body from camping in Lake Tahoe… still had an awesome time, camping is so much fun. This was a special camping trip in that we transported 8 bikes up there and a group of 6 of us biked the Flume Trail, after the initial 4 mile climb, the rest was easy ![]()
