Ikea, Shrek 2, Moving, Closet Organizers, Cooking Dinner, & Mosquito bites - aka: my weekend
Friday night was spent at Ikea in the search for expanded closet space! HOPEN wardrobes are expensive… Overpriced is probably a better word. Instead I got an AMOEBA.
Saturday morning Mike got 4 tickets to go see a special screening of Shrek 2 for HP Employees, great movie. You can really see the attention to detail, and how the visual effects have improved. Antonio B. makes a great addition to the cast.
I moved more stuff over the weekend, $50 of plastic bins and it’s a whole lot easier to pack, carry, and unload. Didn’t make the goal of being moved out by yesterday though. Hopefully before this friday.
Saturday I realized that the AMOEBA isn’t as big as I thought and so I installed a 2nd row of shelves into the crazy small closet, still isn’t big enough though. Next option: get rid of clothes that don’t fit anymore and clothes I no longer wear…
Sunday night Mike and I made dinner, Chicken Pasta & Steak, I took some of the leftover pizza and pasta to work for lunch today. Good eatin’.
I have three mosquito bites on my left arm, I think I slept the other night with that arm outside the blanket. Now how did a mosquito get into my bedroom?
No commentssuch a small world…
I happened to stumble on an old lab partners website today… it was strange. At first I wasn’t sure who it was, the picture on the site must be pretty recent and it’s been like 5 years since our class. Almost couldn’t tell if it was the same person.
I remember back in college, the idea of an online presense was foreign to most of my friends back then. Most people in my major didn’t have the skills or desire to make a webpage. Email was everywhere though, not sure if people used it as much as they do now though.
My job in college was working at the computer labs, and even then, not everyone had a webpage, I think you were required to, but I can’t remember. Well, anyways it is weird to see people who you once thought wouldn’t write blogs to be so into it now… It must be because I have a good number of friends who I first met online, by reading their sites. Then getting to know them in the real world I see as normal, but flip that around and I’m lost.
No commentsMotivation
I think I’ve lost all motivation at work. It’s not that my work is hard or anything, this week has been pretty slow for me actually. It’s more like being tired of the day to day of my workplace. I’m not sure if my co-workers share the same thoughts, but I’ve seen this coming for a long time, it’s just now it’s really starting to bug me.
No commentsMoving… (cont.)
So I’m still moving… most of my large furniture is moved, but I’ve accumulated alot of junk in the past few months. My goal is to be completely done with moving by the end of this weekend so I have time to clean up.
On another note, I came home to my new place and found Mike there with some guys from Shea Homes. Mike noticed a small water leak on Monday in the garage and called in, well it looks like it’s alot worse, part of the carpet in the living room is wet and water is leaking from the main going into the home. Anyways, after a few holes were cut and they found the leak, we had to shut off the hot water… so no hot showers. Well, I went back to my apartment and took a shower.
No commentsPoor Volvo
Not everyone knows, but I bought a new “used” car a little over a month ago. A Volvo 850 Wagon… yes a station wagon! I have to say I really like it, very comfortable and I don’t have to worry about what happens to it since it’s so old. I was worried today about my TV though. Instead of renting a truck or whatever I used my volvo to move.
Here’s the car just after packing it, you can see the mattresses and big screen tv hanging on the back.
I was told that when going over speed bumps, the platform that the TV was on cleared by just an inch.
I was really dreading moving the TV, so much that I almost put it up for sale instead of moving it myself. The thought of it falling or breaking internally was just too real. In the end though I’m glad I could find people to help me move. It took 4 guys alot of cooperation to manage that, although they all thought I was crazy I showed them!
In the end, the test of success was plugging everything in and seeing it work.
No commentsLouisville, KY
I heard on the news this morning that with the rising costs of milk and gasoline these days, there’s some pumps in KY that are so old, they were never designed to meter gasoline at more than $2 a gallon. The guy on the radio said the highest they go is $1.99…
I wonder if pumps these days are designed to go over $9.99 a gallon?
No commentsa year passed, a year older
So last Tuesday was my birthday. My friends took me out for dinner the saturday before which turned out great. I remember in the past years that I was always surprised that people wanted to get together and celebrate with me. This year was the same, I think we had something like 14 people for dinner, I felt kinda bad because the dinner was so expensive for everyone, but the it was prom night and the first choice restaurant was booked. The food was good though and I think everyone had a good time…
I was really surprised that everyone pooled money and got me an Ipod. I havn’t really used it much yet, my plan is to use it with my car stereo and get rid of the headunit.
